Repatriation of the deceased from Europe to Ukraine

It is sad to realize, but any life ends with death, and no one knows where they will have to meet it. It is especially difficult for relatives if a person dear to their hearts has left this world hundreds of kilometers from home, in a foreign land. In the event of death, the only question that arises before the relatives of the deceased is: “How to send the body of a loved one to the Motherland to be buried in their native land?”.

If the death occurred abroad, it is very difficult to carry out all the necessary measures to deliver the body (repatriation from Europe) on your own.

The procedure requires the execution of a certain set of documents that allow the body of the deceased and accompanying persons to cross the border. The shipment of cargo 200 is accompanied by the execution of the following documents:

  • Death certificate with wet seal
  • Translation of passport data
  • Certificate of embalming
  • Certificate of absence of viruses in the coffin
  • Certificate of absence of foreign objects in the coffin
  • When transporting by car, a certificate of compliance with all requirements for transporting the body is required
  • Permission from the embassy of the host country
  • In cases of criminal investigation of death – a certificate from the prosecutor’s office

Transportation in a container. For transportation, the body must be placed in a zinc coffin or a wooden coffin with metal lining. The coffin is hermetically sealed. When transported by plane or rail, the coffin must be in a wooden box, the space of which is filled with sawdust.

Container inspection certificate. You must obtain a certificate stating that the container is free of foreign objects and viruses. Obviously, it is difficult to comply with the requirements on your own.
